Talk Story on the Land is Hawaiʻi Land Trust’s series of free guided interpretive hikes at community preserves and conservation easements. The hikes are designed to help participants learn about conservation, history, culture, and biology while visiting wahi pana and deepening their connection to these places and HILT’s stewardship work.
The page currently lists 2026 hikes at Māhukona Cultural & Ecological Refuge on Hawaiʻi Island, Kāhili Beach Preserve on Kauaʻi, and Waiheʻe Coastal Dunes & Wetlands Refuge and Nuʻu Refuge on Maui. Activities vary by site and can include learning about native plants and animals, geology, history, myths, cultural practices, and, in some cases, hands-on stewardship such as native seed collection, invasive-species removal, native planting, fire-safety work, and kilo.
