College of Tropical Agriculture & Human Resources are excited to announce the upcoming PD course, "Growing Together with Hawai‘i’s Native and Canoe Plants," taking place during Fall 2025 (September 16 - December 30, 2025 – dates are TBC, pending final course approval).

This course is available to Hawaiʻi State Department of Education (HIDOE) PreK-12 teachers and non-classroom teachers who work with students (e.g. counselors/librarians) on ALL ISLANDS. There is no inter-island travel required.

Selection of participants may be made according to the following criteria:

  • Availability to fully attend ALL synchronous sessions (2 in-person on your home island, 6 online; see Course Schedule for details).
  • Participation by teams of 2 or more teachers from the same school and/or HIDOE complex. Applicants are encouraged to share this announcement with colleagues!
  • Commitment to full completion of the PD course (with portfolios due by December 2, 2025).
  • Title I schools may also be given priority placement.
    The HIDOE Learning Object and Instance IDs for this course are to be determined (TBD). Participants who are applying to take the course for PD credits will also need to register for the waitlist in Learnsoft once the course is posted.

Course Fee: $150 deposit via HSTA (refundable upon successful course completion). NOTE: Instructor approval to enroll is REQUIRED prior to paying the deposit. The course is not yet posted on HSTA; accepted participants will be notified.

NOTE: Participation in this course will involve light to moderate physical activity in remote areas, including hiking on unpaved trails and conducting outdoor restoration work (weeding, planting).
