aukaʻieʻie is an animated English-language adaptation of a traditional Hawaiian moʻolelo set in the lush Waipiʻo Valley on Hawaiʻi Island. Pōkahi and Kaukini are a loving, hardworking couple who have everything they need except a child; their lives change when Hina blesses them with the special gift of Laukaʻieʻie.
The animation is part of Lau Nehenehe, which brings Hawaiian children’s literature to life through animation, sound, imagination, and storytelling in both ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi and English.
