ʻĀina Explorers Summer Camp is a free 5-day outdoor education program from the Waikōloa Dry Forest Initiative for Hawaiʻi Island keiki entering 4th, 5th, and 6th grade. Through hands-on, place-based camps, students explore geology, birds, Hawaiian stories, and the connections between people and place while learning in and beyond the Waikōloa Dry Forest Preserve. The program encourages environmental stewardship, cultural connection, and lifelong learning through immersive outdoor experiences.

Place-Based Summer Exploration Camp
Students participate in a weeklong outdoor camp focused on Hawaiʻi Island landscapes, native birds, geology, and moʻolelo through hiking, field exploration, and stewardship-based learning. Camp themes include volcanoes and island formation, bird habitats and conservation, and cultural stories connected to important places across the island.
